Let’s Wheel The Wheel’s is a charity focused on raising awareness and support for people who use wheel chairs permanently – including those with other existing disabilities or conditions. Let’s Wheel The Wheels mission is to help integrate people who use wheel chairs in to the social community. We care about providing access to resources and opportunities for people who use wheelchairs. We believe that a healthy community is diverse and has some understanding of all its members.
As far as I can remember I have always been passionate about people and supporting those with a disability. I spent the first part of my career as a nurse working in different areas of health care focused on people with disabilities and underprivileged youth. The past decade of my career involved me working with people with disabilities in Australia and New Zealand.
Being the mother of an adult autistic son with an intellectual disability I know first hand the challenges that come with any kind of disability. My son Amir is my biggest gift in life and my life would not be the same without him.
I founded this charity because I am and have always been inspired by the clients I worked with. Some of those clients who use wheelchairs permanently and have a disability had never experienced the feeling of beach water on their feet. Imagine that. I am fortunate that I shared their first experience with them. Let’s Wheel the Wheels is born out of my desire to bring the people who use wheelchairs and the community together. Some people have never had any interaction with anyone who has a disability.
My hope and vision for Let’s Wheel The Wheels is that we, the people in the community will all come and take a walk together. Some of us will be wheeling our own wheels, some will help wheel the wheels for others and some of us will walk along side them.
Join me Nelson and let’s make it happen.
Let’s Wheel The Wheels!
