Um prozessorientierte Organisationskonzepte erfolgreich und effizient umsetzen zu können, müssen Unternehmen ihre Informationssysteme und damit einhergehend ihr Informationssystem-Management an den Anforderungen der Geschäftsprozesse ausrichten. Die gegenwärtig zur Verfügung stehenden prozessorientierten Konzepte des Informationssystem-Managements sind diesen Herausforderungen jedoch nicht gewachsen. Jürgen Kirsch entwickelt einen Bezugsrahmen für ein prozessorientiertes Informationssystem-Management, das den aktuellen Anforderungen zur Abwicklung von Geschäftsvorfällen gerecht wird. Es besteht aus einem Ebenenkonzept, einem Informations- und einem Vorgehensmodell, welche die Phasen der prozessorientierten Planung, Realisierung, Anwendung und Kontrolle des Informationssystems sowie ihre Abhängigkeiten beschreiben. Das Ebenenmodell basiert auf der Architektur integrierter Informationssysteme (ARIS) und beinhaltet Erweiterungen zur Verwaltung der einzelnen Instanzen der Geschäftsprozesse und zur Verwaltung der Informationssystemkomponenten. Den Schwerpunkt bildet jedoch die Entwicklung des Informationsmodells für das prozessorientierte Informationssystem, dessen Anwendbarkeit anhand von Beispielen aus der Praxis verdeutlicht wird.
